Frequently asked questions

What is the KnowledgeMC server IP?

The KnowledgeMC server address is smp.knowledgemc.net. On Minecraft Java Edition you can also just type knowledgemc.net, because an SRV record points it at the right port. On Bedrock Edition use smp.knowledgemc.net with port 19132.

How do I join KnowledgeMC on Minecraft Java Edition?

Open Minecraft Java Edition, choose Multiplayer, then Add Server. Put KnowledgeMC as the server name and smp.knowledgemc.net as the server address, then click Done and Join Server. No port number is needed.

How do I join KnowledgeMC on Bedrock, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or mobile?

Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition, go to Play, then Servers, then Add Server. Enter KnowledgeMC as the name, smp.knowledgemc.net as the address and 19132 as the port, then save and join. Console players on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch join the same way.

Is KnowledgeMC crossplay between Java and Bedrock?

Yes. KnowledgeMC runs Geyser and Floodgate, so Java Edition and Bedrock Edition players share one world and can build and play together. Bedrock players do not need a Java account.

Does KnowledgeMC cost money to play?

No. KnowledgeMC is free to join and free to play. There is an optional supporter shop with cosmetic ranks, but nothing in it is required and nothing in it is needed to play the survival world.

What kind of server is KnowledgeMC?

KnowledgeMC is a survival SMP: a shared survival world where players build, mine, farm and trade together. It is the server used in the KnowledgeMC YouTube videos.

Is KnowledgeMC online right now?

The live player count and server version are published at https://knowledgemc.net/server-status, which pings the server directly each time it is loaded. The server rests on weekday mornings in the US Pacific timezone and is back up in the afternoon, so a failed connection on a weekday morning usually just means it is asleep.

Can I download the builds from the KnowledgeMC videos?

Yes. The Builds area of knowledgemc.net lets you inspect each build in 3D layer by layer and download it as a .schem file for WorldEdit and FastAsyncWorldEdit, or as a .litematic file for the Litematica mod.

Does KnowledgeMC have voice chat?

Yes. The server runs Simple Voice Chat, so players with the matching mod installed can talk to each other in game with proximity voice.

Who runs KnowledgeMC?

KnowledgeMC is run by the creator behind the @da_real_knowledgemc YouTube channel, where the server is featured in survival and build videos.
